PUBLIC SERVICE AGREEMENTThis Agreement will ensure that the Irish Public Service continues its contribution to the return of economic growth and economic prosperity to Ireland, while delivering excellence in service to the Irish people. This will be done by working together to build an increasingly
integrated Public Service which is leaner and more effective, and focussed more on the needs of
the citizen. Minister of State Calleary welcomes ratification of the Croke Park deal. The Government welcome the decision by the Public Services Committee of the ICTU to ratify the terms of the Croke Park Agreement. The Government believe that the terms of the Agreement provide a basis for stability and progress to the benefit of Public Servants and citizens alike. Commenting on the agreement reached between Public Service management and unions, the newly appointed Minister of State at the Departments of the Taoiseach and Finance with responsibility for Public Service Transformation, Mr. Dara Calleary, T.D., said "I am pleased that these discussions have resulted in agreement, which will now be subject to ratification. It is vital that we maximise the contribution that the Public Service can make to sustainable economic renewal and this will be enabled by the many important transformation commitments which have now been agreed by management and unions". Public Service management and unions have reached agreement on a comprehensive agenda for Public Service transformation and on a framework for public service pay determination over the period to 2014.
